Why Crop an Image to a Circle?

Almost all modern social media and chat applications display user profile pictures as circles. If you upload a square or rectangular photo, the application will automatically chop off the corners — sometimes removing important parts of the image. By cropping your image into a circle beforehand, you take complete control of the framing. This tool automatically exports your cropped image as a PNG file with a transparent background, ensuring it looks perfect anywhere it's uploaded.

How to Create a Circular Profile Picture

1. Upload your photo using the box above. 2. The crop overlay will appear as a circle. Drag it over your face or subject. 3. Use the corner handles to resize the circle until your subject is perfectly centered. 4. Leave the Output Format on PNG (this preserves the transparency). 5. Click Download. You now have a perfect circular cutout ready for WhatsApp, Instagram, LinkedIn, or Discord.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my circle crop get a black/white background?
To have a completely transparent background around your circle, you MUST save the image as a PNG or WEBP file. The JPG format does not support transparency. If you export as JPG, the tool will automatically fill the empty corners with white to prevent them from turning black.
Can I crop to an oval instead of a perfect circle?
Yes. Simply click the "Oval / Free-form" button in the Shape Mode settings. This will unlock the aspect ratio, allowing you to stretch the handles to create an ellipse or oval shape instead of a perfect circle.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire cropping process happens locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, guaranteeing 100% privacy.
